My three girls loved the first Dragons Love Tacos book, so I preordered the sequel here on Amazon a couple of months ago.
Dragons Love Tacos 2 is a picture book written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that dragons like tacos. But what would happen if we ran out of tacos? Well, in this book, you’ll find the answer to that question. Here’s a hint: it involves a time machine. But you’ll have to read the book to find out more than that!
The illustrations are fun and quirky, just like the story; they are definitely half of what makes this a good book. I don’t want to give too much away, but there’s an illustration toward the end that my girls really liked. They pointed out all the things that they saw, and asked interesting questions. They also loved the pictures (and there are several) of dragons reacting to spicy salsa.
If there is one downside, it is that this book is a true sequel, and readers who have not read the original Dragons Love Tacos book might not fully appreciate this book and its jokes. Of course, this is easily rectified by buying both books!
I would absolutely recommend Dragons Love Tacos 2. This book will appeal to older preschoolers on up; my girls are in elementary school (4th and 2nd grades, and they prefer longer books, but they will always circle back to picture books if I bring out something interesting. Dragons Love Tacos 2 has so many silly moments and little jokes; children will always laugh at diapers. This book was a big hit at my house, and I’m sure that I’m going to be hearing about dragons and spicy salsa for the next few weeks!
