My Review 

Apologies for being pedantic, but Peter Key is not really a private investigator for most of the book. Yes, he does eventually find his way into the field, but for most of the book, he is a very confused man who just wants to live in the house he inherited without people popping out of the woodwork trying to get him to sell the house. 

Peter is a hot mess express who finds himself obligated to find new lodgings due to circumstances completely within his control. Peter is saved from homelessness by a moment of  Deus ex machina, but the surprise inheritance does not solve any of his problems. Rather, it compounds them. SOMEONE is not happy about Peter showing up on the scene and they are determined to recover what they perceive to be theirs. 

Despite his many flaws, Peter is an irrepressible scamp and an utter charmer. He is still too sarcastic for his own good, but he does have some sense of self-preservation and has a vested interest in finding out what happened to his uncle— even though they were never really close when Peter was growing up. 

I would absolutely recommend Killer Vibes. This is an excellent beginning to a new series. Peter is a fun protagonist and despite his laid back good times vibe— no pun intended— he does have a caring heart and shrewd instincts. It will be interesting to see how these factors help him in future investigations. I do want to mention that there are some graphic/dark moments, which were a stark contrast to that aforementioned laid back attitude of the majority of the narrative. I’m excited for the next book in the series, so this wasn’t a dealbreaker for me, but I do want to let potential readers know about this.
